I have read the first two books of the Fourth Wing series but decided to hold off on the rest due to my inability to handle the cliffhangers. My emotional availability from withdrawal is sparse. Imagine my surprise when I picked up a book from recommendations and felt a sense of similarity.
There are differences of course but the similarities are what I think will draw fans of Fourth Wing to it.
Unbound is a book that starts with people set up as offerings that happen each year. The offerings are chosen, replacements to the original chosen due to lack of family, or a volunteer. The only thing they know? Offerings don’t return.
this leads to the assumption that they die and that is what they know. Not much else is known but they are sent to an academy where they are kind of trained and culled down to a select few. The lowering of the people is so they can choose their elemental. Instead of dragons you have choices in the four elements and they do bond as well.
Just to give it some spice I’ll let you know about the possible love triangle so you can read it and find out what happens. ;)
I done the same. I figured it’d be awhile from all the rumors so I haven’t read the latest.
